Safe Haven Space: Empowering Communities

Ayuda provides legal, social, and language services to help low-income immigrants in our neighborhoods access justice and transform their lives. Since 1973, we have served more than 150,000 low-income immigrants throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. 

The Dream Project empowers students from Virginia’s immigrant community to succeed in college or vocational training through scholarships, mentoring, family engagement, and holistic support throughout their education.

The Department of Psychology at George Mason University is one of the largest psychology programs in the region. As part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, they serve more than 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students while advancing research, education, and community engagement that improve lives and promote human flourishing.

Their faculty, students, and staff are dedicated to advancing psychological science and applying that knowledge to address real-world challenges. 

Since 1917, Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA), a human services and immigration relief and refugee welcome agency, has accompanied those in need throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. to foster resiliency, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities. They provide services that last beyond the initial arrival for families, youth, children, and individuals rebuilding their lives in the D.C. metro area.

Taproot helps mission-driven organizations amplify their impact by mobilizing skilled volunteers to advance resource equity. Taproot is a proud partner of Safe Haven Space, while aiming to improve their AI processes while supporting non-profit volunteers.

Since launching their virtual incubator, Greater Sum has supported over 100 nonprofits working in education, health, environment, and community development.

With their help, they’ve clarified their financial models, built out strategic plans, secured additional funding, and expanded their programs.
